Sabine Safety Week Kickoff

Sabine Safety Week Kickoff

Sabine is proud to be celebrating nine (9) years without a loss time incident!  With this accomplishment comes the challenge of keeping our employees safe and engaged in our Safety Program.  Our Safety Culture is not taken lightly as we want to continue to reach milestones and keep everyone safe.   We are very grateful to our Safety Committee leaders, Alisha Smith and Cade VanDerKamp, for implementing Safety Week!  This week of 12 through 16 December 2022 provided an innovative approach to strengthening our Safety Culture and brought awareness to the different aspects of our work both in the field and the office.  Topics focused on included Mental Health, Driving Safety, Job Safety Analysis/Over Water Cautions, Office Safety, and Near Misses.  The participation was unprecedented, and the interaction with employees in the field with live scenarios brought greater awareness to our Team.  Following the Safety Week activities, Alisha Smith stated, “An effective Safety Culture of a company is one that exemplifies commitment to its Safety Program. Our team is devoted to increasing the awareness of the importance of being committed by creating an action-driven safety culture. Be vocal. Be present. Be aware. Stay committed.”

Our Safety Committee has taken advantage of resources we have available with Signal Mutual, our Worker’s Compensation Insurance provider, by attending their Safety Committee Meetings and Forums, and utilizing our Representative, Mr. Adrian Cordero, to provide knowledge, awareness, and training.  Mr. Cordero participated in our Safety Week, provided great insight and different perspectives on Near Misses in unique situations.  He joined Sabine’s Administrative Workshop in July with a focus on office safety and the safety culture for those employees working from home.

Sabine is committed to continuing to improve our Safety Culture by affording employees opportunities to share experiences, Near Misses, engage in Safety Meetings, and be a part of our Safety Committee.  We will work hard to keep up the momentum in growing our Safety Culture to keep our employees safe and our Company reaching greater milestones.
