History

We are a full-service marine surveying and consulting company founded in 1968 by Don Hale, USMMA, Class of 1948. Sabine has grown over the years through expansion and acquisition. At present we have nine (9) office locations: Corpus Christi, Houston, Port Arthur, Lake Charles, New Orleans, Mobile, Cape Canaveral, Norfolk, and Paducah. We maintain an aggressive recruiting program balanced between the addition of experienced surveyors, as well as recent maritime university graduates. Sabine is committed to the expansion of the profession and has an industry-leading developmental program for our staff.  
Our services include bulk and project cargo surveys, hull and machinery surveys, damage surveys, P&I surveys, on-hire, and off-hire bunker and/or vessel condition surveys, vessel appraisals, vessel audits, management audits, shipyard representation services, CFR 46 Subchapter M compliance services and vendor audits.
We are ISO 9001 and 14001 certified with established quality procedures. Our staff includes experienced Auditors who hold ISO Lead External Auditor certification in addition to the completion of other specialized auditing courses. The management encourages and supports the professional development of all staff members including membership in the National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) and Women in Marine Operations (WIMOS). 
We are active members of the American Waterways Operators (AWO), the Mississippi Valley Trade and Transport Council (MVTTC), the Offshore Marine Services Association (OMSA), and support the Greater New Orleans Barge Fleeting Association (GNOBFA), and the Virginia Ship Repair Association (VSRA).
